Circle, the company behind USDC, has announced a major platform upgrade.

“Digital Dollar Accounts, … empowers businesses of all sizes to store value natively in digital currency while maintaining compatibility with legacy electronic money and payment networks.

It allows for:

fiat bridges
payouts through “traditional means”, public chains, and Visa partner wallets.
high yield 8.5%-10.75% APY savings accounts
and more.

While Circle is a centralized company, its USDC stablecoin is widely used in DeFi, and is a gateway to the DeFi ecosystem.
